Who I am
My name is Ben Wallach, I’m a builder, artist, surfer, and lifelong wanderer of the natural world—born and raised in Sonoma County, California.
Ever since I was young, I’ve had a deep love for nature—for collecting things, exploring new places, and noticing beauty where others might overlook it. I grew up wanting to be an archeologist and architect searching for bones, rocks and artifacts —drawn to the mystery of objects shaped by time and the elements. That curiosity has stayed with me through years of travel, a background in construction, and a lifelong appreciation for patterns, texture, design, and storytelling.
As a surfer, the ocean has always been a constant in my life—a source of inspiration, rhythm, and perspective. Walking along the shoreline after a session, I’d often pick up pieces of driftwood, shaped by the sea and sun, not knowing what I’d do with them. At first, I just left pieces in my garden as decoration. Then I began to shape, connect, sand and seal those pieces to preserve their beauty. Eventually, those evolved into furniture and larger works of art—each one a collaboration between nature and my imagination
I don’t try to force the wood into something it’s not. I let its natural form lead the way, honoring the wear, the curves, and the stories it carries.
This work is my way of staying connected—to the ocean, to the land, and to the quiet beauty that surrounds us. I’m grateful to be able to share my pieces with others who appreciate art, design and nature
